Santos prepares to reformulate the cast during the season; look

Facing a complicated phase in Series B, Marcelo Teixeira, president of Santos, stated that the club will have to reformulate the squad during the season

O Santos is facing a string of poor results in Serie B and, after three consecutive defeats, the São Paulo club occupies 4th place and begins to rethink its trajectory. Thus, after drastic changes in the cast, the president Marcelo Teixeira stated that players must leave before the end of their contracts, with the aim of a new reformulation.

At the beginning of the year, Santos signed 16 players, who arrived with the aim of playing in the first Series B in the club’s history. However, Marcelo Teixeira stated that these names are being evaluated and, among all the reinforcements, some already seem to be outside of Peixão’s plans.

“Certain players who tried out during the arrival from January 2024 did not work out. We are following. That’s clear. Three or four players we tried, but in a composition of 16 players signed, you have a margin of three or four that didn’t work out, it’s a very good level, satisfactory compared to the percentage and time we had to sign”, said the president in an interview with ‘Rádio Bandeirantes’.

The agent guaranteed that these movements will be carried out so that new athletes can arrive at Peixão. “In this assessment we are not just going to terminate some contracts that are to be fulfilled by December of this year. We will anticipate terminations if there is no interest from other clubs. Provide openings and places for other athletes. We are on the market”said.

Seeking a resumption of their good form in the second division, Santos’ next commitment will be this Friday, 14th, at 7pm (Brasília time), in an away match against factory worker.
