Goalie “Zenith” Evgeny Latyshonok admitted that it was difficult for him to decide to join a St. Petersburg club.
Zenit signed a contract with the 25-year-old goalkeeper according to the “4+1” scheme.
“It’s a new challenge for me, a new stage in my career.” I’m happy to be in the strongest club in the country. Here and now, I am very happy about it.
— How difficult was the transfer decision for you?
– It’s really difficult. I spent five years in Baltika, this team and this city became my home. The decision was difficult, but I understood that it was necessary for my future career. In Krasnodar we have already competed with Denis Adamov, so I treat the competition well. In any case, the strongest will play.
— Last season, you had some very brilliant matches, especially against Zenit. What do you remember from the matches against the new club?
– First of all, this is the attacking group of Zenit – very high quality players, it was very difficult to play against them. Even when we watched clips of moments, I already understood that it would be very difficult, and in the end it happened that way. It is clear that Zenit is a team of a completely different level in all respects,” Latyshonok told Zenit’s official website.
Last season, Latyshonok played for Baltika; at the end of the 2023/24 season, the team took 15th place in the WORLD RPL and was relegated to the MELBET First League.
Last season, the goalkeeper played 34 matches for the Kaliningrad team, eight of them without conceding a goal.
