“A major police operation is underway in the St. Pauli district (a district of Hamburg). According to preliminary data, an unknown person threatened the police with a pickaxe and an incendiary device. The police were forced to use firearms. The attacker was injured and is currently receiving medical treatment,” police said on the social network X (formerly Twitter).
Police first used pepper spray, then guns. According to Bild, the attacker had a Molotov cocktail. The man was injured in the leg and is currently under medical observation.
