The Ukrainian national team will start at the European Championships on Monday with a match against Romania
Head coach Ukrainian national team Sergey Rebrov spoke about the upcoming match with Romania in the first round European Championship 2024.
“I think it is very important for Ukraine to be on this stage. In our country, football is not in first place now. It is a great pleasure for all the players to start playing in the tournament, although it is a difficult time.”
“Romania has been successful lately. They have very good young players. This is a team that understands what they have at their disposal. They have very fast players who, in essence, took the team to Euro 2024.”
“We love playing in Germany, we played a friendly match here. We see the organization – it is unprecedented. When we come to Germany, it always feels like we are playing at home.”
“It is very important that we work together throughout the year. I see that the players have a much better understanding of what we are trying to get out of them. We understand each other much better than at the beginning. We must respect our opponents and concentrate on each match.”
“The war in our country gives more motivation to our players. When you are here to show the spirit of Ukraine, it is very important. This tournament is really about the spirit of our country.”
Earlier it was reported that Vitaly Mykolenko would miss the match with Romania. The defender does not have time to recover from damage.
The Ukrainian national team arrived in Munich on June 15, where it will face Romania in the opening match of the European Championship. The meeting will take place tomorrow, June 17, at the Allianz Arena. The main referee of the match is Swede Glenn Nyberg. Starts at 16:00 Kyiv time.
After the Romanian national team, Ukraine will play Slovakia in the second round of Group E on June 21. In the final match of the group stage, Rebrov’s team will meet Belgium on June 26.
