Stanciu’s goal was the twentieth that the blue-yellows missed on continental forums
Having missed a goal from Romania in the first round match Euro 2024, Ukrainian national team extended the sad series. The blue-and-yellows failed to keep a clean sheet in all of their 12 matches at the European Championships.
The Ukrainians conceded four goals in three matches at the 2012 European Championship, five times in three matches at Euro 2016. 10 goals in five meetings were scored against Andriy Shevchenko’s team at the 2020 European Championship. And now – the debut goal missed at the continental championship under Sergei Rebrov.
In the match of the first round of Group E, Romania opened the scoring in the 29th minute. Nicolae Stanciu did it with a cool shot from outside the penalty area, taking advantage of a mistake by the blue-and-yellows when leaving the defense.
The match takes place in Munich, at the Allianz Arena. After the first half, the Romanians lead with a minimum score of 1:0.
