It took Ollie ten minutes to become a hero and lead his team to a second consecutive European Championship final
Attack England national team Ollie Watkins recognized as the best player of the semi-final match European Championship 2024 against Netherlands (2:1).
The 28-year-old Aston Villa forward came on as a substitute in the 81st minute for Harry Kane with the score at 1:1. At the very beginning of stoppage time, Ollie, having received a pass from another “joker” Cole Palmer, turned around in the penalty area and from under the defender accurately shot into the far bottom corner.
The goal was Watkins’ fourth in 14 appearances for the Three Lions, and only his second at official level. He played for around half an hour at Euro 2024.
“I never dreamed that I would play for England at the European Championship,” admitted the modest hero.
In the final, England will play Spain, which defeated France (2:1) the day before. The decisive match of the 2024 European Championship will be held on July 14 at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin. The starting whistle will sound at 22:00 Kyiv time.
