Czech Republic’s representative wins Grand Slam tournament for second time
Czech tennis player Barbora Krejcikova beat the Italian Jasmine Paolini and became a champion Wimbledon 2024 in women’s singles.
The first set was dictated by Krejcikova – she immediately took the lead with a break and did not lose her advantage. As a result, Barbora won the opening set with a score of 6:2.
In the second set, Paolini managed to get back into the game – she held her serve well, and thanks to two breaks, she won 6:2.
It was the turn of the third, decisive set, which turned out to be very equal. The fate of the match was decided by just one break, but even when serving for the title, Krejcikova did not have everything smooth. Paolini had two break points, but was unable to convert at least one – Barbora brought the matter to a victorious end.
This is Krejcikova’s second Grand Slam singles title, having won Roland Garros in 2021. The Czech has also won seven Grand Slam women’s doubles titles and three Grand Slam mixed doubles titles.
Paolini lost in the singles final of the Grand Slam tournament for the second time in a row. In June, Jasmine lost to Iga Swiatek in the championship match of Roland Garros-2024. It should be noted that the Italian also suffered a defeat in the doubles final of the French Open.
