At the same time, the Serbian team’s coach stated on the eve of the return match against Dynamo that he did not want to comment on “non-football things”
Head coach of the Serbian Partizana Aleksandar Stanoevich spoke about his team’s preparation for the return match against Dynamo Kyiv in the second qualifying round Champions League 2024/25.
“After a poor performance in the first round, we will go into tomorrow’s match with the intention of improving our result. We are to blame for the heavy away defeat, and now we have to fight to at least slightly improve the situation. Any European match is important for Serbian football and the club coefficient, so we will come out of the tunnel very charged.”
“You can always hope, but the reality is different, especially since there won’t be any real home support. You never know what can happen if you score an early goal, but it’s important for us to show real spirit and how to fight for this black and white shirt.”
“There will be changes in the starting lineup compared to the first match. Some guys need to improve, and some can start thanks to their performances in the last matches of the domestic championship.”
“Dynamo is a quality team with excellent players. They have not started in the domestic championship yet, so I expect them to come out with an optimal lineup.”
“I would not like to comment on non-football things. We had no problems away in Lublin. I saw several statements from them, but I am not interested in that. Partizan and our fans have had a paternal relationship with Moscow CSKA for decades. This is sport, and nothing else will motivate us in tomorrow’s match with Dynamo.”
Let us recall that Dynamo has already arrived in Belgrade for the return match with Partizan. In total, head coach Oleksandr Shovkovskiy brought 27 players to the match, including Taras Mikhavko and Matvey Ponomarenko, who played for the Ukrainian U-19 team at the 2024 European Youth Championship.
Dynamo defeated Partizan in the first match of the second qualifying round of the Champions League (6:2). The goal of midfielder Nikolai Shaparenko became the 600th for Dynamo in European competitions.
Before the match, the Kyivians refused all official events with the Serbian club, which had previously traveled to the “brotherly” tournament in Moscow.
The return match will take place on Wednesday, July 31. The game will start at 21:00 Kyiv time. The match at the Partizan Arena will be held without spectators. The Romanian referee team headed by Marian Barbu will referee the match.
Dynamo’s next opponent in the League Path could be Scottish Rangers. The Kievans will play in the third qualifying round if they do not allow Partizan to perform a miracle in Belgrade.
