Leo Neugebauer of Germany took second place, Lyndon Victor of Grenada – third
Norwegian Marcus Roth became the Olympic champion in men’s decathlon on Olympics 2024 in Paris.
Marcus was outside the top three for several events and managed to make a breakthrough after a strong performance in the pole vault. The javelin threw the Norwegian into the lead and he remained in first place after the final event of the program, the 1500m.
Roth scored a total of 8,796 points. Silver went to Leo Neugebauer of Germany, and bronze to Lyndon Victor of Grenada.
Earlier, at the 2024 Olympics, Ukraine won its first gold medal — the women’s team won in sabre fencing. The award for the sabre fencers was the third for Ukrainian athletes at the Games in Paris. Earlier Olga Harlan won a bronze medal in sabre fencing. Sergey Kulish won silver in the 50-meter air rifle three-position event. Another medal for Ukraine was guaranteed by a boxer Alexander Khizhnyak.
The 2024 Summer Olympics will end on August 11. The competitions will feature 329 sets of medals in 32 sports. Ukraine will be represented in Paris by 140 athletes in 23 sports – this is the smallest representation of the blue and yellow during the Olympics.
