LNZ snatches victory over Left Bank in Kyiv’s debut match in the UPL

The visitors played a decent match, but it was a shame they conceded at the very end

LNZ managed to beat in injury time Left Coast in the home match of the opening round UPL-2024/25 — 1:0.

The hosts, as expected, controlled the territory and the initiative, attacked more, shot at the goal more often. However, the absolute newcomer to the UPL snapped back dangerously – it is enough to mention two dangerous approaches to the goal of Vladislav Voitsekovsky – Evgeniy Kucherenko dealt with both in close combat.

LNZ attacked fruitlessly for a long time throughout the second half, but could not score against Maksim Mekhaniv. Moreover, Vitaly Pervak’s team almost took all three points from the historic away game, but Daniil Kolesnik missed from the goal line.

However, the strongest was lucky. Towards the end of stoppage time, Kucherenko (yes, the goalkeeper) served a set piece, there was confusion in the penalty area, the visitors were unable to clear it, the ball bounced successfully to LNZ newcomer Mark Assinor, who scored the winning goal from close range

The Kievans lacked a few seconds for a successful debut in the elite division. In turn, Andres Carrasco was able to achieve a hard-fought victory in his first official match at the helm of the Cherkasy team.

In the second round, Left Bank will host Vorskla, and LNZ, again at home, will play against Alexandria.
