Rebrov named the reason for the failure of the national team at Euro 2024

Romania’s defeat at Euro 2024 was the result of mistakes by the players, as the coaching staff demanded that they play a different type of football. The head coach of the national team, Sergei Rebrov, said this at a press conference.

I told the players before the tournament and after it this tournament is very fast, in this tournament there is no time to build up. No time to go to the game, watch, how it is necessary to play from the first minute I can’t say, if you are talking about the game in Romania, that we lost it in all aspects . I think we played well , but after a while we lost.

For example, we can control the ball. I love statistics, I have all the statistics of all the matches, even Spain, all the top teams that played in the Euro. But in this match we controlled the ball. I noticed after the first half that we didn’t create chances, we didn’t finish the attacks. This is a problem.

I can say that, statistically, in this game we won the ball back a lot in the opposing half, more than the top teams. But, unfortunately, we didn’t take advantage of it: we didn’t finish the attacks, we didn’t have enough players in the penalty area to finish those attacks. Yes, we controlled the ball, we lost the ball, we took it back, we controlled it again. It did not complete the attacks.

Plus, unfortunately, we made ridiculous mistakes at crucial moments. If we make a mistake in half of the field, that means the players in their teams are playing like this. Example of Lunin.
