Midfielder Alexei Soutormin explained his decision to move from Zenit St. Petersburg to Rostov on loan.
The transfer of the 30-year-old footballer was announced on Thursday, August 15. The rental contract is valid until the end of the 2024/25 season.
— Of course, I went to Rostov-on-Don. It is a good city. I heard about it from many friends who have been here longer than me. I have positive impressions. I want to rest after a long trip, and then start contributing to the team as soon as possible.
— What can you tell us about the head coach and the team?
— I know Valery Karpin, as well as many guys. Playing against Rostov has always been difficult. I am attracted by the intensity and the football that the team professes.
— What do you want to achieve in Rostov?
“I just want to play and feel the kind of football I can play.” And also to bring as much benefit as possible to the team and become stronger,” Sutormin was quoted as saying by the club’s press service.
Sutormin has been playing for Zenit since July 2019. In total, the 30-year-old footballer has made 127 appearances for the St. Petersburg club, during which he has scored 13 goals and provided 10 assists.
