Yves will miss at least the first round match against Leicester
Tottenham decided to temporarily suspend the midfielder Iva Bissouma from working with the team. The reason was a video that went viral, showing a Malian inhaling laughing gas from a balloon.
The 27-year-old defensive midfielder has already apologised, calling his actions a “serious lack of judgment”. However, this has not saved him from club sanctions. Now Bissouma will not help Spurs at least in the away match of the first round of the Premier League against Leicester on August 19.
Tottenham head coach Ange Postecoglou commented on the situation:
“We suspended him on Monday. Also, there is a trust relationship that needs to be built between Bissouma and me, and between him and the team. That is something he needs to work hard on from now on, to try to regain that trust. He will have to earn it.”
“The door is open for him, and hopefully we can help him understand that the decisions he makes affect more than just him. Hopefully that will allow him to make better decisions in the future.”
Use of nitrous oxide (N2O, laughing gas) causes an intoxicating effect similar to a narcotic. It has harmful effects on the body. Possession of this chemical compound for personal use in the UK has been a criminal offence since 2023.
Bissouma joined the London club from Brighton in the summer of 2022. He played 28 matches last season, but did not score any goals.
