Dynamo Makhachkala goalkeeper Volk: “God willing, my call-up to the Russian national team will still take place”

Dynamo Makhachkala goalkeeper David Volk In a conversation with a correspondent, he expressed hope that in the future he would be called up to the Russian national football team.

Russian national team will play two matches in Hanoi, Vietnam. On September 5, the rival of Valery Karpin’s team will be Vietnam, and on September 7, Thailand.

The Russian Football Union (RFU) has released an expanded Russian national team roster to prepare for the matches; the list includes a total of 38 players, including five goalkeepers: Matvey Safonov, Andrey Lunev, Alexander Maksimenko, Evgeny Latyshonok and Ilya Lantratov. The national team’s training camp will begin on September 1.

— I can’t say for sure that I’m offended about not being on the extended list of the national team. I work and try to give my best in every match to be up to the challenge.

But there are goalkeepers who have been performing very well for several seasons now. So everything is justified. And God forbid, my call-up to the national team will happen in the future,” Volk told .

The final list, which will include 24 to 25 outfield players and goalkeepers, will be announced in late August. The Thai team is ranked 101st in the FIFA rankings, while the Vietnamese team is ranked 115th.

On February 28, 2022, the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) suspended Russian clubs and national teams from participating in international competitions due to the situation in Ukraine.
