The football world mourns Sven Goran Erikssonwho has died aged 76. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in early 2023 and in recent months has been touring the stadiums where he played to greet his fans. In Italy, he has coached Roma, Fiorentina, Sampdoria and Lazio, with the latter winning the historic Scudetto in the 1999–2000 championship, the 1998–99 Cup Winners’ Cup and the 1999 European Super Cup. In 2001, the Swede also won the title of the first foreign manager of the England national football team, part of the “golden generation” that included David Beckham, Steven Gerrard, Wayne Rooney and Frank Lampard.
