The young Ukrainian, as in the first two rounds, spent the entire game on the bench
Brentford beat him without any problems Southampton in the home match of the 3rd round English Premier League — 3:1.
The first half was a relatively even game, with the visitors trying to respond to the hosts’ attacks with their own attacks. However, Brentford managed to go into the break as the leaders, with Brian Mbeumo scoring his second league goal, finishing off a shot from Kevin Schade into an empty net.
After the break, the Saints went forward and could have equalized, but in the middle of the half, the Bees punished the guests twice. Mbeumo scored twice with a shot from the center of the penalty area. It should be noted that both first goals came thanks to high pressure and rough mistakes by Soton near his goal.
Soon the intrigue was finally killed – Yoan Wissa put the ball into the goal after a long throw-in from the side and a pass from Nathan Collins. It is worth highlighting the uncertain play of Aaron Ramsdale in this episode.
Thomas Frank’s team could have increased the score several times before the end of the match. But instead they conceded in injury time – a consolation goal was scored by Yukinari Sugawara after a pass from Adam Lallana.
Ukrainian midfielder Yegor Yarmolyuk did not take part in this extravaganza – he, as in the matches of the first two rounds, sat on the bench for the entire game. He has only played 90 minutes in the League Cup match against Colchester (1:0) this season.
With six points, Brentford have at least temporarily moved up to fifth place. Frank’s side will play their next match after the international break – away to Manchester City on September 14.
