Dynamo forward is confident that the team lost a game it should not have lost
Attack Dynamo And Ukrainian national team Vladislav Vanat commented on the unsuccessful start of the blue-yellows in Nations League 2024/25 and his own performance in the duel with Albania (1:2).
“It is clear that we are unhappy, I don’t know what to comment on. We lost a game to the Albanian team that we should not have lost. We said that in order not to repeat the result at the Euro in the first match with the Romanians, we should go out with more desire. Until the first goal we conceded, the game was under our control, but it broke the course of the game.”
“The game went more for broke, we needed to score, so we started playing with two forwards. We started running behind the defenders to deliver the ball, but unfortunately there were no chances.”
“The atmosphere at the stadium? We thank our fans and apologize to them for not living up to their expectations. There is still a match ahead. I don’t want to make excuses and say that we will go out and win all the matches. But we need to play with more spirit than we had [против Албании]and if you missed it, there’s no need to lose heart.”
Let us recall that Ukraine played a dull first half in the nominally home match of the first round, which took place in Prague. Immediately after the break, Serhiy Rebrov’s team managed to open the scoring, but the Albanians quickly equalized after a corner, and then scored a second goal after a counterattack.
Vanat came on as a substitute in the 72nd minute alongside Roman Yaremchuk, but for more than 20 minutes he did not shoot at the goal. The Ukrainian team did not create anything except a few long-range shots for half a time and was forced to capitulate.
With three points, Albania leads Group B1 with Georgia, while the Ukrainian team is third thanks to a better goal difference than the Czech Republic.
In the next round, Rebrov’s team will play the Czech Republic on September 10. The match, like the match with Albania, will take place in Prague.
