Athletistic / Football. Lokomotiv and Russian national team forward Dmitry Vorobyov spoke about his life path. The 26-year-old Russian had to go through many difficulties before being invited to the national team.
“After leaving Krasnodar, a lot happened. Let’s say that I was really shaken during the whole summer of 2018, I was without a team, I did not receive any offers, I almost went to Crimea. but at that time my ex called me Krasnodar footballer Evgeny Shipitsyn suggested me an option with the Czech Republic.
I have already told this story many times. I did not succeed in the Czech Republic: I had no contract or money for six months, my father helped me buy tickets. I gave up and went home. What could I do? I am 21 years old, I am already an adult, I need money. I wanted to get a job in a taxi to have something. But my father did not support this idea; he scolded me for it.
Then I had an option with Nizhny Novgorod. Six months later I moved to Volgar in Astrakhan. When we reached the Premier League, my growth began. Vitaly Nikolaevich Panov took me in, I started to score a lot and moved to Orenburg. And then you know everything yourself! (Laughs.)“- quotes Vorobyov’s words from “Championship”.
Dmitry Vorobyov has made seven appearances in the RPL this season, scoring three goals and providing two assists. His transfer from Orenburg cost Lokomotiv €2.5 million. The striker’s contract with the railway workers runs until June 30, 2027.
