Horvat feared for the safety of himself and his family, but still decided to continue his career in Kryvbas
Vice President Krivbassa Artem Gagarin spoke about the situation with the Croatian midfielder Hrvoje Ilicemwho has remained outside the team since the start of the current season.
“Ilic had some family problems, as well as concerns for his own safety. We talked about it a lot, he was open and honest with the club. After the training camp he spent with Kryvbas, we gave him time to sort out his personal issues and were even ready to let him go to another club as a last resort. But Hrvoje, after a certain pause, made a decision and is returning to the team. Ilic will start full training this week.”
Ilic joined the Krivoy Rog club in the summer of 2023. Last season, Hrvoje played 21 matches, scored three goals and made two assists.
Without Ilic, the Krivoy Rog team performed unsuccessfully in the European Cup qualification this summer: first they were knocked out of the Europa League by the Czech Viktoria (1:2, 0:1), and then out of the Conference League by the Spanish Betis (0:2, 0:3).
In the Ukrainian Premier League, Kryvbas, having scored 10 points in five matches, shares 4-6 places with LNZ and Rukh. In the next round, Vernydub’s team will host Vorskla on September 22.
