On Sunday, the Ukrainian midfielder underwent successful surgery
Head coach Genoa Alberto Gilardino commented on the situation surrounding the Ukrainian midfielder Ruslana Malinovskywho was seriously injured in Saturday’s game against Venice (0:2).
“We all support Malinovsky after the injury. I talked to him, he really wants to return to the team. Ruslan is a fantastic guy and a very professional footballer. We are waiting for his return.”
“I already said after the match with Venice that the team stopped after his injury. This should not happen again, but it was a good lesson for us.”
Let us recall that Malinovskyi was injured in the second half of Saturday’s match against Venice (0:2). The Ukrainian was unable to leave the field on his own and was carried away on a stretcher.
Subsequent examination revealed a dislocated joint and a fractured fibula. The Ukrainian successfully underwent surgery on Sunday. The club reported that Ruslan feels well and will soon begin the recovery process at the club’s base.
It has been reported that Genoa could sign a midfielder on the free agent market as a replacement for Malinovskyi. One of the contenders is former Shakhtar midfielder Viktor Kovalenko.
Genoa are 11th in Serie A with five points. The Griffins will host Juventus in the next round on September 28.
