Don Charles demands a second confrontation between Daniel and Alexander
Trainer of the IBF heavyweight belt holder Daniel Dubois (22-2, 21 KO) Don Charles believes that his protégé deserves a rematch with the WBC, IBO, WBA and WBO world champion Alexander Usik (22-0, 14 KOs).
“Why not? Daniel already knocked out Usyk. It was a game of two halves. In football there are two halves, but in boxing, unfortunately, there is only one.”
“We won the first half of the fight, considering, let’s say, the situation with Usyk and Daniel. But Alexander won the second. Daniel has already proven that he can drop him.”
Charles also spoke about the scandalous episode of Dubois’ first fight with Usyk. We are talking about Daniel’s blow to Usyk’s groin in the fifth round.
“I will say again that it was a legitimate blow, but they decided to deprive us of it. But now I demand that they give Alexander Usyk to Daniel again.”
On August 26 last year in Wroclaw, Usyk fought Dubois. In the fifth round, Usyk ended up on the floor after Dubois hit the Ukrainian below the belt.
The referee gave Alexander time to recover, after which the fight continued. Dubois said that the blow was clean and he was deprived of a legitimate victory.
At the end of the eighth round, Usyk knocked Dubois down, but the Briton managed to get up and continue the fight. And in the ninth round, the Ukrainian knocked out the Briton after another accurate blow.
Dubois defeated Joshua in a fight that took place in London on Saturday, September 21. Daniel knocked AJ down three times and knocked his opponent out in the fifth round. Dubois defended the IBF title, which he received after Usyk relinquished it.
On the night of May 18-19, Usyk inflicted the first defeat of his professional career on Tyson Fury in a fight that took place at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). The victory was awarded to the Ukrainian by a split decision of the judges: 115-112, 113-114 and 114-113.
An agreement has been reached between Usyk and Fury for a rematch. The “Gypsy King” has officially activated the rematch option. The second fight between Alexander and Tyson will take place on December 21, 2024 in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia).
