The Nerazzurri coach believes that previously it was possible to sum up preliminary results after two opening games
Head coach Inter Simone Inzaghi shared his opinion regarding the new format of holding Champions League.
“Last year, after the first two matches, you could take stock and understand how the next games could go. Because then you knew that in the third and fourth games you would play the same opponent, home and away.”
“Now it is, to some extent, everyone against everyone. This formula with two additional games adds even more complexity. You can’t do the math because it’s kind of a throwaway game.”
Let us remind you that according to the new Champions League regulations, points will be counted in the general table. The top eight teams will advance directly to the 1/8 finals. The remaining eight tickets will be played in the knockout round among the teams that took 9-24 places. Teams that take 25-36th places stop competing in European competition.
Inter started in the Champions League with an away draw against Manchester City (0:0). The Nerazzurri will play their next match in the tournament today, October 1, at home against Red Star.
