Tour coach – Alexander Chizhevsky (Agribusiness)

The first stage is in full swing, and the leader of Group A has a 12-point advantage over his closest competitor. Every round we wait to see who will challenge Agribusiness. In terms of the selection of players, the status of coaches and the ambitions of investors, Bukovina should now be at the top of the table, but for the second time this season it lost to Volochyshchi – now on the road. This is the ninth consecutive victory for Agribusiness since the beginning of the championship – and all with a minimal advantage of one goal (which is very difficult, indicating good organization of the game and controllability of the team). This is already a steeper start than the “amazing” Metalist of 2021 had. Only three teams have had big winning streaks over the past 10 years: FC Alexandria won 10 matches in a row in the 2014/15 season and Polesie 2022/23, 11 – Veres in 2020/21. We stock up on popcorn and watch how the sensational but honored leader of the Western group continues his performances.

Joker of the tour – Evgeniy Streltsov (SK Poltava)

This is quite a productive tour for the players from the bench. For example, the third goal of Metalist in Khmelnytsky was scored by Alexey Goryainov from a pass from Alexander Tsvirenko – Anishchenko released both of them during the game. Metalist 1925’s fourth goal against the Kremenchu team was scored from a pass from Raymond Frimpong to Owus. However, these are, so to speak, “final” actions. But Streltsov, after coming on as a substitute, saved his team from defeat in the central match of the tour and retained its sole leadership. Evgeniy earned a free kick in stoppage time of the second half and, after a cunning play by Shcherbak, cut off a flank pass into the opponent’s goal. Just a few minutes separated YUKSA from breaking the City’s unbeaten streak and inflicting their first home defeat since the spring. This would allow the “crusaders” to catch up with the Poltava team on points and match them at the top of the table.

  • SportArena statistics: 8 league matches, 2 goals.

Best young player of the tour – Alex Chidomere (Metalist)

At one time, Alex studied at Dynamo, and ended up in Obolon as a young man. During the second-league “two” of this club, Chidomere revealed himself so much that he received a call-up to the Ukrainian youth team. After moving to Metalist, a sharp breakthrough in Alex’s career was expected, but injuries hampered the development of the young football player. Now back from the hospital, the 22-year-old midfielder is returning to his level. For the second time this season, after Minaj, he makes the difference and provides his team with a crushing away victory. In Khmelnitsky, Chidomer and Isaenko assisted each other’s goals.

  • SportArena statistics: 7 league matches, 2 goals, 1 assist.
Goal of the round – Pablo “Paraguayo” Castro (YUKSA → SK Poltava)

Cool long-range strike by Tolochko from Agribusiness, “Yarmolinho” by Ari Moura from Metalist 1925 – these are excellent goals, even against the backdrop of the entire timeline of the season. However, what we liked most was the, excuse me, mocking goal from the “crusaders” – an exquisite little trick from Castro from YUKSA. We quote the report: “The fortress of the “townspeople” fell under the onslaught of the guests. Voskonyan, while receiving the ball, was attacked by Evdokimov and passed deep to Castro, and Pablo scored into the far corner from outside the penalty area with a neat sweep with his right foot.”

The goal can be seen on video at 1:14

Hero of the tour – Ari Moura (Metalist 1925)

Read later on our website an interview with the player who opened the scoring in the match with Kremlin and was involved in two more scoring combinations.

  • SportArena statistics: 7 league matches, 3 goals, 1 assist.

Tour fact

Agribusiness won the ninth match in a row – this is already more than, for example, Metalist in the 2021/22 season, one more victory – it will be possible to compare with the series of Alexandria 10 years ago and Polesie the year before. And most importantly, in the match with the strongest club in terms of selection of players and investment opportunities, the Volochish residents took all six points.

A few more interesting things:

  • only Agribusiness and SK Poltava remain undefeated in the new championship
  • For the first time in the championship, Poltava had to win back, having missed the first – by 90+3 minutes. she fought back, not allowing YUKSA to catch up with her on points
  • 6 matches in a row since May last season, SK Poltava has not lost at home (5 wins, 1 draw, goals 15:3)
  • Kremin played his 250th match in the First League and suffered his 140th defeat during his time in the division
  • Dinaz played his 60th match in the First League, including the 30th at home
  • lost to FC Minaj for the third time in a row and cannot win for seven rounds – this has never happened during the club’s performances in the First League
  • Metallurg cannot win 10 matches away from home – this is an anti-record for the club in its entire history
  • Nikolay Buzhin (SK Poltava) played his 50th match in the First League
  • The 10th goal in the First League was scored by Vladislav Bugai (Metalist 1925)
