Daria, like the entire Ukrainian judo team, performed unsuccessfully at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris
Acting coach Ukrainian national judo team Vitaly Dubrova said that the titled Ukrainian judoka Daria Beloded is contemplating ending his career.
“Daria Bilodid, as far as I know (communicated with her), has not yet decided whether she will continue her sports career,” Dubrova said.
Let us remind you that at the Paris Olympics held this summer, Beloded completed her performances at the 1/8 final stage. The Ukrainian competed in the category up to 57 kilograms. Daria confidently passed the first round, easily defeating Neru Tiebwa from Kiribati. In the 1/8 finals, the Ukrainian against Haruko Funakubo from Japan earned three “shidos” and eventually lost. This performance remains Beloded’s last for now.
Four of Daria’s other colleagues on the Ukrainian national team, who competed in Paris, also failed to compete for medals.
During the 2024 Olympic Games, President of the Judo Federation of Ukraine Mikhail Koshlyak called the Olympics a failure for Ukraine. After this, Dubrova (and with him the other coaches) resigned, saying that “after such a performance, some changes need to be made.”
Beloded is a bronze medalist at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, as well as a two-time world champion in the up to 48 kilogram category. In the up to 57 kilogram division, Daria won the 2024 European Championships in Zagreb.
