Brentford with Yarmolyuk suffered an away defeat to Manchester United

Thomas Frank’s team was able to score a goal in the locker room, but the second half of the meeting was left to the Mancunians

On Old Trafford the match of the 8th round of the Premier League took place – Manchester United won a strong-willed victory over Brentford (2:1).

The first half slowly rolled to its conclusion until Brentford’s Jamaican defender Ethan Pinnock opened the scoring in the fifth minute of stoppage time.

Manchester United restored the status quo in the very opening of the second half – Alejandro Garnacho scored a goal. In the 62nd minute, Erik ten Hag’s team managed to score the second, as it turned out later, the winning goal. Its author was Rasmus Hoylund, and for the Danish forward of Manchester United this goal was the first in this championship.

Brentford’s Ukrainian midfielder Yegor Yarmolyuk came on as a substitute in the 75th minute of the game. For the 20-year-old midfielder, this match was the fifth in the 2024/25 Premier League.

Thanks to these three points, Manchester United rose to 10th place in the standings – 11 points to its credit. Brentford are in 12th place with 10 points.

Thomas Frank’s team will play their next match in the Premier League on October 26 at home against Ipswich, and Manchester United will visit West Ham on October 27. Before this, Erik ten Hag’s team will have an away game in the Europa League against Fenerbahce, which will take place on Thursday, October 24.
