Lee Carsley’s men took revenge against the Hellenes for their home defeat at Wembley
The fifth round match in Division B ended in Athens Nations League 2024/25 — England destroyed away Greece (3:0).
Lee Carsley’s team managed to score a quick goal – Ollie Watkins scored in the 7th minute. Towards the end of the game, England brought the score to a big one – first, Hellenic goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos scored an own goal, after which Curtis Jones scored.
Thus, England took revenge for the October home defeat to Greece (1:2). The Hellenes themselves lost points for the first time in this League of Nations draw.
England and Greece now have 12 points each, but Carsley’s men have an advantage in head-to-head matches. In the final round, they just need to beat Ireland at home to win the group and at the same time earn a return to Division A.
The sixth round matches England – Ireland and Finland – Greece will be held on Sunday, November 17.
