The winner of the European Cup of the 1985/1986 season, the former goalkeeper of the Romanian football club Steaua Helmut Dukadam, has died, the UEFA press service reports.
The former Steaua goalkeeper, nicknamed the ‘Hero of Sevilla’ after saving four penalties in the 1986 European Cup final against Barcelona, has died aged 65.
The match between Steaua and Barcelona became the first European Cup final in history to end goalless in normal time.
Dukadam played for Steaua from 1982 to 1986. As a member of the club, he also became Romanian champion twice and won the Romanian Cup once.
