Dynamo players did not have the right attitude for the match with Dnepr-1
Dynamo head coach Mircea Lucescu commented on the devastating defeat of his team in the 2nd round of the UPL from Dnipro-1 (0:3). The Romanian mentor stressed that his wards are experiencing serious psychological problems.
It should be noted that at the end of the press conference Lucescu hinted about leaving the Kyiv club.
“The decision to play in Lviv was a big mistake. I wanted the matches against Dnipro-1 and Zorya to be held in Kyiv. The guys left Ukraine two months ago and have not seen their families since. Even in the return match with Benfica, I felt that the psychological state of the players is bad. Therefore, he insisted that we go to Kyiv.”
“When matches are played without fans, there should be additional emotions that allow players to enter the game with a fresh head. It didn’t happen today. The psychological state of the team was again bad. Probably, including because the guys were not at home for too long, they did not see their relatives.
“As for the match itself, we must admit that the opponent played much more aggressively than us. In addition, the forced early replacement in our line-up has made its own adjustments. In the end, we conceded a goal – again from the standard, again, as in the match with Benfica, Besedin did not play to the end.
“After the first goal, Dnepr-1 began to act even more aggressively, the picture on the field immediately changed. When you miss first, it plays very differently.”
“There was practically no football in the second half – there were so many delays that the game itself lasted, probably, 15-20 minutes in total. These stops were intended to unnerve the players so that everyone would be arguing and not playing. There was basically no football after the break.”

After the defeat, the Kievans ended up in the last, 16th position in the standings. In the next round, Dynamo on September 3 will face Zara.
