Player out for at least six months
Ukrainian defender of Shakhtar Victor Kornienko underwent surgery.
The player was operated on in Rome. According to preliminary data, the defender will miss at least six months.
Recall that Kornienko was injured in the match of the 2nd round of the UPL between Shakhtar and Kryvbas (1:0). The defender came on as a substitute in the 54th minute, but left the field 15 minutes later on a stretcher after colliding with opposing captain Dmitry Khomchenovsky.
Examination of the defender recorded a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament. Thus, the injury to the Ukrainian will not allow the player to play for Shakhtar until the end of 2022.
The Pitmen are in 4th place in the UPL standings. Tomorrow Igor Jovićević’s team starts in the Champions League group stage against Leipzig.
