In Mexico City, both Alpine drivers reached the qualifying final – and are hoping to score points in the race with both cars…
Fernando Alonso (9th): “Today turned out to be more difficult than expected, but I’m still happy to start ninth in the race – on the clean side of the track and right behind Norris.
On Saturday we lacked speed, there were problems with the balance. In the second session I was tenth, so ninth was our highest for today.
Given the weather and the high altitude, anything is possible in this race. We’re going to try to earn points.”
Esteban Ocon (10th): “Good result. We made it to the final of qualifying with two cars – this was the minimum task. We realized the potential of the machine, although I believe that after good results in the first and second session we were a little underdeveloped in the final.
The results are very tight, tomorrow we will have a tough battle. You have to do everything right to earn points. We are ready to take every opportunity.”
