Tsunoda: Overtaking is actually impossible in that corner

The Mexican Grand Prix ended unsuccessfully for AlphaTauri. Yuki Tsunoda retired after colliding with Daniel Ricciardo, while Pierre Gasly finished 11th.

During the race to push Lance Stroll off the track, Gasley was given a five-second and one-point penalty, bringing the total to ten. When 12 penalty points are scored, the rider will be disqualified for one stage and Pierre’s next points will not be forfeited until May 2023.

Pierre Gasly (11th): “Too bad, but we knew the race was going to be difficult from 14th. I did my best and finished close to the top ten. I think one more round and I would have earned points.

As usual, Mexico City had a crazy vibe, which was great. However, I am disappointed to leave the track without earning any points.”

Yuki Tsunoda (descent): “It’s a shame it all ended like this. I had excellent control over the condition of the tires and felt confident in the final stretch, so I’m very disappointed that it all ended with such a stupid mistake.

Daniel had a different strategy and was able to catch up with me later on. It annoys me so much that such an experienced rider tried to overtake in a corner where overtaking is basically impossible.

I was close to earning the points the team needs now. There are also positive results from the weekend, but now I want to forget everything to come back stronger in Brazil.
