Williams scored no points in Mexico City, but Alex Albon battled for the top ten and finished 12th, and Nicholas Latifi was 18th and the last to see the checkered flag…
Alex Albon (12th): “I’m very happy with today, we were faster than on Friday. The start proved difficult, I fell back to 19th, but was able to make up for it afterwards, so in the end the race went well.
In the rush of hot air behind other cars, the brakes overheated and the tires got hot too, but we adjusted the strategy to be on an open track.
The battle was tight, but left a lot of positive emotions. We are getting better at dealing with weaknesses in the car and on a track that doesn’t suit us, we were able to find the right settings to compete with our closest rivals.
Nicholas Latific (18th): “At the start of the race my car was damaged, which was confirmed by the team. Outwardly, it looked like nothing out of the ordinary had happened, but as the race went on, our pace slowed down.
You have to understand what exactly failed, but today the car didn’t have enough speed. Even at the end of the race on the new Soft tires I was two to three seconds slower than the riders on the worn tires.”
