Valtteri Bottas takes part in the Race of Champions, to be held from January 28-29, 2023 in the Swedish city of Pite-Havsbad on a makeshift circuit in the frozen Baltic Sea. The Alfa Romeo driver will represent the Finnish team in the Nations Cup standings along with his compatriot Mika Hakkinen.
Valtteri Bottas: “I’m looking forward to finally making my debut in the Race of Champions! I’ve watched these races on TV for years and was close to starting in 2022, but everything had to be canceled at the last minute. It was hard for me to see how others drive cars on the ice in Sweden, so I’m happy to be able to join them in January.
I am also happy to be teammate Mika Hakkinen with Finland in the Nations Cup standings. Mika and I have become friends over the years, but to race with him is something special. We have both participated in the Arctic Rally several times and I hope that the experience gained will enable us to be ahead of not only our northern neighbors but everyone else.
Then we will forget about friendship for a while to compete against each other in the individual standings of the Race of Champions. I am sure we will surprise the audience on the track and around the world with a great show.”
