The Alpine team is preparing technical innovations for the first stage of the season. The team’s technical director Matt Harman said that, according to the engineers’ calculations, the updates should help close the gap to the top three.
Matt Harman: “We feel a certain confidence. Of course, we did not reveal the full potential of the machine during the tests.
I don’t like to make predictions because I have no idea what shape the others are in – there is a lot of uncertainty in this matter. However, I can say that our testing went as expected and the car’s aerodynamics worked as they should.
We have evaluated several interesting and different aerodynamic solutions and achieved quite positive results, so we look forward to the Bahrain Grand Prix with optimism.
In the first race you can see a few visual differences from the car we used in testing. We are preparing updates and I hope that these new items will make it possible not to reach third place among the teams, but at least get closer to it.
During testing, we not only identified areas where we need to improve the car. We now know that we need to be just as aggressive as last year, if not more aggressive, to upgrade the car.”
