In early June, the FIA announced the resignation from his position of Secretary General of the Federation and Executive Director of Formula 1 Peter Bayer. Shaila-Anne Rao, who has been the lead attorney for Mercedes Grand Prix Limited for the past three and a half years and then special adviser to team leader Toto Wolff, has been appointed to the position.
At a press conference on Saturday, Ferrari boss Mattia Binotto said the team was concerned about the appointment due to a potential conflict of interest.

The FIA is currently undergoing a reorganization as the new president recruits his team. We fully respect his decision and accept new appointments to ensure effective cooperation and help strengthen the FIA. However, the appointment of Shaila-Anne Rao worries us.
She is a great professional with a lot of experience and I have no doubt that she is capable of doing her job. Yes, we have concerns about her, but it’s just concern. The absence of conflicts of interest and proper conduct depends solely on them – and the FIA president must ensure it. I’m sure they can.
As I said, Ferrari is concerned about this appointment, but I am almost certain that their decisions will prove that our fears were unfounded.
