Verstappen wins Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Leclerc retires with car problems

Dutch driver “Red Bull” Max Verstappen became the winner of the eighth stage of the Formula 1 championship – the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, which takes place in Baku.

For the 24-year-old Dutchman, this is the fifth victory of the current season.

Second place went to Verstappen’s teammate, Mexican Sergio Perez, who set the fastest lap. Closed the first three winners of the British racer “Mercedes” George Russell.

Monegasque Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc, who was leading the race, retired on lap 20 due to problems with the car. At the start of the race, following a breakdown, another Scuderia driver, the Spaniard Carlos Sainz, put an end to the fight.

Verstappen leads the drivers standings with 150 points. Perez came second with 129 ahead of Leclerc with 116.

The next leg of the season will take place June 17-19 in Canada.
