Max Verstappen led the minutes of the second session of the free races of the Miami Grand Prix, and his team-mate Sergio Perez showed the fourth fastest time. After the training, the Red Bull Racing drivers noticed the good balance and speed of the car.
Max Verstappen (1e): “It was a good day. Initially I thought there might be problems with the new asphalt, but the condition changed noticeably in a day. We worked with the machine and managed to find the right balance
Outside the track, the track remains slippery, but the track itself is in good condition. In any case, everyone is on an equal footing. The most important thing is that we found a good balance of the car, so for now I’m happy.
We still need to work on some small things. Ideally you want to be the fastest in every corner, but this is not always possible. Let’s see what the weather will be like on Saturday, but overall the day went well for us. Every time I went out on track with a full tank, the car was well balanced.
Sergio Perez (4th): “In the first session the grip was very low – about the grip you get on a wet track when you have to choose between wet and intermediate tyres.
We paid attention to mechanical balance and learned a lot. I managed not to do that many laps in a long run, but overall we have a good pace. I didn’t get the best fast lap, locked the wheels in the last corner, so there’s potential to add. On Friday I didn’t fly very well, but if I can add myself and I feel more comfortable, everything will be fine on Saturday.
I think my problems are related to the lack of grip, but the gaps are minimal.”
