In 2023, Fernando Alonso has reached the podium five times, while team-mate Lance Stroll’s best result remains a fourth in Melbourne. Aston Martin team owner Lawrence Stroll hopes both of his drivers will be on the podium at the Canadian Grand Prix.
Lawrence Stroll: “Here are our plans – I hope both our riders will climb the podium. I am very confident in this result because I believe our car will be fast on the Montreal circuit, which suits its characteristics. So I’m looking forward to the home lap and a great race.
I am confident in the updates the team has prepared for this stage. In Barcelona, Lance showed that he was almost recovered from the injury after six or seven races. I believe that by the end of the season both riders will be at the same level.”
When asked if Fernando Alonso can still drive for Aston Martin in 2026 when the team switches to Honda powerplants, Lawrence Stroll said: “I think most people never thought Fernando would be where he is today. It’s probably too early to talk about his 2026 prospects, but never say never.”
