Michael Schumacher spent three seasons with Mercedes and returned to F1 in 2010. The results were not what the seven-time world champion and his fans had expected, but Schumacher’s contribution to the team allowed her to dominate for many seasons.
“Michael was an incredible person,” said Williams boss James Vowles, who was in charge of strategy at Mercedes during Schumacher’s time. – He had a special appearance, and in life he was different from the image that people saw from the outside.
His presence in the team helped us, he rallied the team and helped move forward. Michael knew all employees’ birthdays, sent flowers to partners, and really cared about each person.
As a result, the team sincerely wanted him to succeed. And for this he did not invent anything, but he was just himself.
Michael knew his results might not have been at the level they should be, but he made up for it with great work and dedication. Nico Rosberg learned a lot from Michael and then Lewis Hamilton learned a lot from Nico.”
James Vowles said of the current Mercedes drivers: “Lewis has tremendous natural talent, but he has also worked hard. Everything he did one year seemed inadequate the next and Lewis worked even harder. This is the essence of Formula 1.
I’ve known George Russell for many years – I’ve watched him grow into what he is today. He has a lot of potential and is very different from Lewis. Each of them brings something different that will help you succeed. Each of them is constantly learning and doing everything they can to add.
What they have in common is that they are either already champions or future champions. They all have the same dedication to the cause in trying to win back at least a millisecond.
