When the engine regulations change in the 2026 season, the Aston Martin team will switch to Honda powerplants. Not surprisingly, race fan boss Mike Krak shared the concern of his Red Bull Racing colleague Christian Horner in an interview with Racefans that not everything can run smoothly.
Mike Krak: All teams are concerned about this. The engine manufacturers worked with the FIA to develop the regulations in the belief that the chassis designers could follow it, but then we saw that this required some drastic changes to the chassis design.
However, it is technically possible. I always urge the teams to work together in the interest of the cause so that everything works out. I am sure that we can draw up a regulation that will allow us to achieve the desired result that will satisfy everyone.
Dialogue with Honda is already underway in all areas – sport, including staff numbers and passes, structural – we will have common or separate boxes. There are many questions and they all take time to process.
We also talk about integrating the power plant into the 2026 chassis in the form we envision it in now. We try to take everything into account.”
