The final two days of Formula 3 testing in 2023 took place in Imola, Italy. On Monday, the best time was set by Gabriele Mini, who completed the best lap of the afternoon session in 1:30.225 seconds.
On Tuesday, the Prema driver showed his best result on a dry track in the morning, 1:30.679 seconds. During the day it started to rain in Imola and the racers were able to evaluate the behavior of the cars on wet asphalt.
Test day was full of red flags. The races had to be stopped five times in the morning. MP Motorsport driver Kasper Stuka was the first to stop on the track. The second and third time red flags appeared due to a stop on the track by Leonardo Fornaroli and Sami Megetunifa. For the fourth time, testing had to be suspended after Rodin Carlin racers Callum Voisin and Ugo Ugochukwu crashed into the gravel at different parts of the track. Four minutes before the end, the red flags went out for the fifth time due to an interruption by Tasanapol Intrafuvasak.
In the afternoon session, red flags appeared four times on a wet track in the rain. The first time the session had to be interrupted because Mari Boya flew into the gravel. Then Sami Megetunif stopped on the track, just like in the morning session.
For the third time the session was interrupted when Louis Sharpe stopped at turn fourteen. The final red flags appeared five minutes before the end of time due to a stop by Nikola Tsolov. Hitech Pulse-Eight racer Alex Dunne posted the best time of the session.
This ends the Formula 3 season. The next time the racers in this youth series will get behind the wheel of cars will be in 2024.
