Eric Maignan, who previously worked at Mercedes and Ferrari, became the new technical director of Alpine’s engine building division, the championship’s official website reports.
At Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains he was once chief engineer and for the past three and a half years he has led the department at the Scuderia base in Maranello, but has now signed a contract with Alpine. He will be responsible for the operational management of the division, which is based in Viry, and will report directly to Bruno Famen, Vice President of Alpine Motorsport.
“We can confirm that Eric Maignan has joined the team as technical director of the Viry division, reporting to Bruno Famen,” an Alpine spokesperson said. “Eric is a highly experienced specialist and will lead the development of Alpine’s powertrains, with a particular focus on preparations for 2026, when the new engine regulations come into effect.”
Previously, Famen was Alpine’s chief mechanic, but after the personnel changes that took place this year in the factory team of the Renault group, he was promoted and now the management has actually been entrusted to him. The duties of sporting director will be assumed by Julian Rouse, and Matt Harman became technical director.
