The position of the Aston Martin drivers in the Friday protocol is not impressive, but both Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso emphasize that the AMR23 car has good settings.
Lance walk (18th): “It’s great to be back in Mexico City, it’s interesting and fun to drive on this track. The asphalt surface is quite slippery and the grip is low, but I think we started training well and found the right settings.
In the first session we completed a lot of normal laps and were able to complete our program, including working with both high and low fuel loads.
Unfortunately the second session had to be interrupted due to a problem with the left front wheel, which could not be removed, causing us to lose a lot of time.
As always, we will analyze the data collected after training to prepare the car as best as possible for the third practice and qualifying on Saturday.”
Fernando Alonso (20th): “Today we focused on race pace and worked on long sets of laps.
It is difficult to interpret the lap results in detail and draw conclusions, but it appears that the car has good set-ups and we will continue to achieve optimal behavior from the AMR23 in preparation for Saturday’s practice and qualifying.”
