Frederic Vesti took part in the youth tests in Abu Dhabi as part of Mercedes. The Danish racer set the third fastest time of the day, after which he gave a brief commentary to the team’s press office.
George Russell left work at the track early after crashing his car during the morning session.
Frederik Vesty (3rd): “I just completed the youth tests in Abu Dhabi. Incredible day – I only dreamed of this! I completed over a hundred laps and assessed eight tire compounds.
I learned a lot, partly thanks to George working with me. I was able to compare his telemetry with mine on long and short series. In the evening I received a new Soft kit and was able to evaluate the capabilities of the Formula 1 car in qualifying mode. The opportunity to drive this car to its limits was a dream come true for me. I liked it a lot!
I will now return to Brackley for simulator work so I can continue to progress and learn with the team.”
George Russell (20th): “Despite the accident, half the day behind the wheel turned out to be productive. We were able to learn a lot and make connections with the data we obtained during the season.
It’s been a long year and everyone is tired. The whole team is looking forward to a short break, but we are also looking forward to next season.”
