In 2026, the Spanish Grand Prix will start hosting a new circuit in Madrid, but Barcelona will not give up on Formula 1. The stage’s promoters are investing 50 million euros in the reconstruction of the circuit until 2026 and are ready to host championship stages every two years, on a rotational basis with other circuits.
“We are optimistic,” Jose-Luis Santamaria, director of the Barcelona circuit, shared his plans with the Spanish press. – There are countries that organize three Grand Prix, such as the US. Why can’t there be two races in Spain?
Stefano Domenicali has already mentioned this possibility, and in Italy there are two stages. We are working hard to ensure that Formula 1 will be present in Barcelona for many years to come.
We maintain constant contact with Formula 1 and meet promoters every week. This year we want to demonstrate the quality of our work.”
