The German Auto Motor und Sport writes about the situation on the driver market and the prospects of Australian Grand Prix winner Carlos Sainz, who does not have a contract for 2025.
According to the publication, Carlos “is traveling through the Bermuda Triangle of Red Bull, Mercedes and Aston Martin, hoping to impress these teams with his results.” However, alongside Sainz, Fernando Alonso is competing for a place at Red Bull Racing and Mercedes.
It is believed that Alonso is a better choice for Red Bull Racing than Sainz if Max Verstappen leaves the team. On the other hand, if Max leaves, it will go to Mercedes, so there will be no room for Sainz there anymore. At the same time, Alonso’s actions in Melbourne in the battle with George Russell significantly reduced his own chances of signing with Mercedes.
Apparently Toto Wolff will invite Kimi Antonelli to replace Lewis Hamilton if he fails to get Verstappen.
All these interrelationships are closely monitored by the Sauber team, also known as Audi. It is no secret that they are showing interest in Carlos Sainz, but Audi is also not prepared to wait indefinitely for the Spanish driver’s decision. It is believed that Sainz has until mid-April to tell Audi whether he accepts their offer or not.
As for Carlos’ potential partner at Audi, it is believed that an agreement has already been reached with Nico Hulkenberg.
