Marco mentioned a possible reason for Newey’s departure from Red Bull

Red Bull motorsport advisor Helmut Marko mentioned one of the possible reasons for Adrian Newey’s departure from Red Bull Racing. Speaking on German television channel Sky Sport, the Austrian suggested that Newey was “burned out” after almost twenty years of working at Red Bull Racing.

Helmut Marko: “Adrian’s decision came as a surprise, but if he lost motivation and felt burned out at work, then we have to accept that. Thanks to his incredible work at Red Bull Racing, we were able to find a solution that allowed both parties to terminate the contract.

Of course, Newey’s departure is a painful moment for the team, because he is the best designer in Formula 1 and everyone treats him with great respect. On the other hand, we have a strong technical team led by Pierre Vache, which includes young talents. I don’t see any potential speed issues that would disappoint us.

However, I am afraid that after a certain time of thinking, the desire to participate in racing will reawaken in him, and then he will be available for another team, but not for us.

Newey’s strength is its ability to build a car under the new regulations, which will change in 2026. But until then, I am confident that we will have enough experience and knowledge to remain competitive. Although of course his departure will weaken us from a psychological point of view.”
