Sainz received a penalty for a collision with Piastri and lost fourth place at the Miami Grand Prix

The stewards of the Miami Grand Prix recognized the Spanish driver “Ferrari » Carlos Sainz guilty of an incident with Australian McLaren driver Oscar Piastri, reports the Formula 1 press service.

During the race on the sixth stage of the Formula 1 championship, Sainz made a mistake in a corner and caused contact with an opponent. Following the contact, Piastri was forced to return to the pits to replace the damaged front wing.

Sainz received a five-second penalty and fell from fourth to fifth in the race standings, behind Red Bull’s Mexican Sergio Perez.

The winner of the Miami Grand Prix was British McLaren driver Lando Norris.

The next Formula 1 stop will take place in Imola, Italy from May 17-19.
