Max Verstappen achieved his fifth victory of the season at Imola, but Frederic Vasseur remains optimistic. The head of Ferrari is confident that fans will see a full-fledged fight for the title in 2024 with the participation of several teams.
Frédéric Vasseur: “After almost seventy laps of the race, the three teams were seven seconds apart at the finish – the speed difference was less than a tenth per lap. And this difference persisted throughout the weekend. This is good news for me, good news for Formula 1 and good news from the perspective of fighting for the title.
Next weekend in Monaco we will start the battle from scratch on a completely different type of circuit and with different corners.
After Imola I have mixed feelings, because McLaren took exactly the same step forward as we did. Our team lost, so I’m a little upset. If we had taken first and second place at the start, we would have finished first and second in the race. If we missed something, we did it in qualifying, not in the race.”
