McLaren complained that the conduct of Friday’s practice in Montreal was heavily affected by rainy weather, which caused constant changes in conditions and prevented the team from working properly on track.
Oscar Piastri (16th): “The first training sessions are over and the day was difficult because of the weather, so it is difficult to say what speeds we are capable of. I think everything should be fine, even if we don’t know for sure since we haven’t been able to fully implement the program.
However, everyone is on equal footing. During the second training session, when we were on intermediate tyres, we were able to set a good pace and that is positive. However, this weekend will be quite chaotic for everyone. But I now want to get back on the track as soon as possible to continue working.”
Lando Norris (20th): “The first working day at the circuit was held in difficult weather conditions, which meant that I completed fewer laps on dry asphalt than I would have liked. But we have been working quite actively on the wet track and in that respect we have made a good start, although it is difficult to say what positions we are in.
But Friday wasn’t easy for everyone, and when weather conditions change, it affects everything. Tomorrow we will have to work very hard and analyze the information collected, and then we will see what we can count on during qualifying.”
Andrea Stella, team leader: “The course of both sessions today was influenced by rain. This means that we have been given little information about the performance of the tires, the car settings and even the positions we are in. However, we may have already gathered the most important information as weather conditions may remain the same until the end of the weekend.
In any case, the fans sitting in the stands of the autodrome today saw that the teams were actively working on the track. We must stay focused, manage all the information collected today wisely and prepare for what will be an eventful weekend.”
